which was followed five months later by his honourable discharge on September 15

the reverse inscribed in the centre with “FÜR VERDIENST IM KRIEGE 1914” (For merit at war)

Constructed of red cotton, the exterior bearing a white cotton disc measuring 9 cm in diameter, overlaid by a multi piece black cotton mobile swastika, unmarked, measuring 17 cm (w) x 10 cm (h), demonstrating minor wear and extensive wrinkling from postwar storage in a small card stock case supplied by a Canadian Second World War veteran who retrieved the item, in overall very fine condition.
