It is not very large --just over 8 inches tall--but enough of a knock out that I'd argue to placing at the center of the table

and the interior is black lacquer

and together with the form gives it a bit of an Asian feel

Anyway, what a lot of effort went into this chest, with three drawers large enough to be quite useful. There is not a missing piece or even a chip that I can find; the knobs on the drawers and mirrors are carved too, and the only hardware anywhere are tiny brass
