Earlyish 19th Century Rose Watercolor on Wove in Period Frame monkey on ladder toy One is a bit largerPure perfection to my eye, just a completely lovely thing. The watercolor is early, c. 1820s 30s American I believe, on what appears to be very soft wove paper, and the wonderful frame is period to it, wood with gold leaf. Certainly a rose, but with the softness of a poppy or peony to that bloom. None too easy to find early watercolors like this, or frames like this either, and here truly a perfect match. 5 3 4" x 5 5 8" framed as found. An old loss
