both wound with yellow and white yarn-- with the post standing on four arched feet

There are splits in the wood in a couple of places

made with real slate that retains a sense of many many years of school lessons performed across its surface--and I believe this is an especially old one (19th c I think)

Honest construction, clean lines, good age, quite useful, but what really makes it for me is the clover club shaped cutout, backed with glass which makes it feel a bit like a bee
